Founded in 2011, our mission is to support Wyngate with capital needs and one-time projects. We advocate for Wyngate to benefit from MCPS building improvement programs, and we support both the urgent needs and longer-term projects that MCPS cannot or does not fund. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible.
We coordinate and partner with the Wyngate PTA, as both organizations benefit Wyngate in complementary ways. Our funds are multi-year and can be saved/spent over longer periods, while the PTA must spend the funds it raises within the same school year. The PTA mission is to foster the relationship between the school and parents, and they do a remarkable job!
At times, the Foundation and the PTA missions overlap, so we stay in close communication and collaborate frequently.
The Foundation has traditionally invested in four areas:
Facilities Improvement: Financed a new audio system in the APR, supported flexible seating options in classrooms
Arts and Language Enrichment: Partnering with PTA for One Author events
Professional Development: Supporting the cost of teacher development through a grants program
STEM Enrichment: Established and maintains the Maker Space room, which is used bi-monthly by all students to explore STEM projects and learning

No, but we’re glad you joined the PTA. The PTA is a fantastic organization that the Foundation partners with, but your PTA dues go to PTA-exclusive activities. When the Foundation partners with the PTA on a project, it will be clearly labeled as such.
The Foundation was very active from 2011 – 2019. Like many things, the Foundation was sidetracked by the pandemic. The Board was depleted as its members transitioned to middle school, while the parents of younger kids were unaware of the Foundation’s existence. Now that we know, we are eager to reinvigorate this amazing resource.
Yes. We are a 501 (c) (3) and all donations are tax-deductible. Our EIN number is 45-3414631. You will receive a letter recognizing your contribution that you can use for tax preparation.
Sometimes they do. The Foundation will actively work to increase MCPS investment into our school and our students. When MCPS does invest, the Foundation can augment with add-ons that may become more affordable during a larger improvement.
Ask your child over dinner tonight! They will share how they enjoy this space by doing hands-on projects every other week with Ms. Bhanot, our media specialist. In early grades, they might learn physics by racing paper planes. In higher grades, they might use robotics to solve a challenge.
Yes! We are currently funding projects that will benefit your child this school year, like replanting the back field and teacher grants to support their learning. In addition, we believe that investment in our elementary school facility contributes to property values.
Initial donations will be used to reopen the Teacher Development and Supplies Grant fund. We know of at least two initiatives that will apply, one in reading and one in classroom supplies. If we raise enough funds immediately, we will consider installing some ground cover in heavily trafficked pathways and perhaps some raised beds.
We are still working that out. When we have the Priority survey results, we will establish a 2025-2026 projects list and create a budget that will enable us to provide a suggested annual giving level. In the meantime, please make sure you have paid your PTA dues and contributed to the Teacher Grant Fund.
